Custom Display Cases & Shadowboxes

Custom walnut shadowbox featuring military medals and a ceremonial belt mounted on brown and blue suede, with engraved plates, designed and framed by Andrew Legere in a previous professional studio.

Shadowboxes allow for depth, dimensionality, and storytelling that traditional framing cannot achieve. At Legere Fine Art Services, each shadowbox is designed from the ground up - proportions, depth, materials, and mounting systems are all tailored to the object and its long-term care.

Frame depth is never arbitrary. We build shallow, refined profiles for delicate textiles and documents, and deep architectural constructions for medals, objects, instruments, or layered compositions. Depth is engineered to support the object properly while maintaining a balanced, intentional presentation on the wall.

Hardwood frame options include natural and ebonized walnut, maple, oak, and custom-finished woods, as well as painted or wrapped interiors when appropriate. Interior finishes can range from archival mat board and fabric wraps to structured platforms and concealed mounts, depending on the weight, fragility, and visual goals of the piece.

Mounting is always conservation-driven. Objects are secured without adhesives whenever possible, using custom brackets, supports, stitching, or pressure-fit systems designed specifically for the item. Every solution is reversible and built to protect the object from stress, gravity, and environmental factors over time.

Shadowboxes and display cases are ideal for pieces that don’t fit conventional categories - heirlooms, war medals, sports memorabilia, sculptural works, artifacts, or deeply personal objects. If it can be displayed, it can be designed properly.

Each project is developed through a private consultation, allowing time to explore design options, materials, and installation considerations before fabrication begins.
